We aim to teach you about the biology, behaviour and distribution of Whale Sharks as well as conservation status and Whale Shark research worldwide. You will learn how to plan all aspects of a dive/snorkel with Whale Sharks, paying special attention to non-impact diving/snorkelling practices. The importance of Whale Shark monitoring activities will be stressed and the Whale Shark Photo ID website introduced as an example of how to get involved in Whale Shark conservation

You don’t have to have a dive qualification to dive with Whale Sharks but it helps! The PADI Whale Shark Awareness Distinctive Speciality course introduces divers and snorkellers to the world's largest fish, whilst teaching the proper techniques for minimal impact recreational diving. This ensures everyone has a good time with no adverse effects on the sharks, their habitat or their behaviour.

What do you need to start?

PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certifications (or qualifying scuba diving certification from another organization)

Minimum age: 15 years.

What will you do?

You'll learn about Whale Shark, their biology, behaviour and distribution. The course will also overview whale shark research and conservation status worldwide. You'll learn to plan, organise and execute a dive with whale sharks, in a safe and passive manner and to recognise the importance of Whale Shark monitoring activities and provide an opportunity to participate in Whale Shark conservation (through the Whale Shark Photo ID web site).
