Our facilities provide you with everything required for a pleasant experience and the perfect learning environment. Our purpose built classrooms will be your base for the duration of the program, our swimming pool, with views of the Moalboal coastline, are where we will refine your skills. The open water training sites are only a few steps from the dive center.
How to become a PADI Dive Instructor
The PADI IDC is a combination of the PADI Assistant Instructor Course (AI), and the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Course, it is conducted by Course Directors and PADI IDC Staff Instructors.
Every IDC starts with the Assistant instructor Program, if your goal is to become an AI you only need to attend this first week of the IDC.
The second week of the IDC is the OWSI program, this is suitable for AI’s who wish to continue their training and become a Dive Instructor. It is also suitable for instructors from Diving Agencies, other than PADI, that wish to crossover. Completion of the OWSI program gives you access to the PADI Instructor Exam (IE).
The PADI Instructor Exam is a two day event hosted entirely by PADI staff, it is intended to verify that you are ready to begin teaching PADI programs, completion of the IE earns you the rating of Open Water Scuba Instructor, your ticket to a dream job.
The Emergency First Response Instructor course is conducted alongside all IDC programs, it is a requirement that all PADI Instructors also hold this certification. The EFR-I program is a two day course, in order to attend you must have taken, or refreshed, an EFR (or other First Aid and CPR) certification in the last 24 months. Although a necessity for PADI Instructors this is also an extremely valuable rating for anyone with an interest in teaching lifesaving skills, if you would like to join a course please drop us a line.
PADI E-learning option
PADI provide an IDC e-learning service that allows you to complete a selection of the IDC presentations online in advance, there will still be some to attend with the IDC team when you arrive in Moalboal, this covers the first nine, each approximately 1.5 hours in duration.
This is a good opportunity for those who prefer to free up some additional study time during the course, ask us for more information if you are interested in this option.
