I’m often asked about the physical and mental benefits of my sport, here I will do my best to describe them. This busy world we’re living in is keeping many of us in a loop of negative stress, mental discomfort and general health abandon. With healthy pursuits like freediving we can steer ourselves onto the right path ,and gain quality of life, changing our routine and injecting something fun, rewarding and challenging.

Freediving requires us to live the life in present and eliminate surrounding interferences. The sport starts out like any other for most of us, we either read about or see it going on, it captures our curiosity long enough for us to try it. From that point on, for those that continue , it starts to reflect on our everyday life.

We tune the mind and the body into one whole well balanced structure which can, with regular activity, make us physically fit and mentally stronger.

Freedivers use advanced breathing techniques which do a lot more than simply extend our breath hold time. These exercises provide clarity of thinking, an inner calm that comes from extended periods of concentration without interruption, which in turn lead to numerous physical health benefits, the rewards seemingly endless.

I believe freediving has something to offer everyone, needless to say not all of us can go onto be champions, but that’s really not the point. The challenge is to yourself, how far can you go, what perceived obstacle can you overcome today.

If nothing else most of us come to understand that our limitations are not provided by our body but by our mind, and this knowledge is possibly the biggest incentive to push harder than any other.
