PADI IDC Instructor Course

The IDC for February at Savedra just came to a successful conclusion with all candidates having a very easy time at the PADI Instructor Exam (IE). As well as congratulating the candidates we have a few other achievements to acknowledge.

PADI Course Director Martins Slisans

Martins Slisans

A huge congratulations to our very own Martins who left immediately after the IDC for Kota Kinabalu Malaysia, where he will be beginning the PADI Course Director Training Course (CDTC).

PADI pick just a few applicants each year to attend this program, being accepted distinguishes Martins as an elite dive professional and we are very proud to have him as one of our crew. It was some years back when Martins himself was a graduate of Savedra’s IDC program, congratulations on an incredible achievement.

PADI Career Development Center (PADI CDC)

Recently we were informed we are to be awarded the status of PADI Career Development Center, currently Savedra are a PADI 5 star Instructor Development Center.

The PADI CDC classification is awarded to PADI Five Star Instructor Development Centers and Five Star Instructor Development Dive Resorts that dedicate their businesses to professional development for dive instructors.

PADI Five Star CDCs are committed to excellence and meet the highest requirements for training PADI Professionals and offer career-oriented programs to prepare scuba diving professionals for employment in the dive industry, as  well as offer job placement assistance for program graduates.

PADI Instructor Development Courses are intensive programs, it’s no secret that they are hard work, but it doesn’t mean they are aren’t fun!

One of the things the IDC team enjoy the most is getting to spend a couple of weeks hanging out with talented divers from all over the world, and getting to know each other, this group was no exception, below is a brief introduction for the candidates.

The most surprising thing on this particular IDC was meeting PADI Regional Training consultant Junya Kato for the first time, and finding out he and I took our Open Water Course in the same place, almost at the same time. We both learned to dive in the beautiful Bay of islands NZ, small world indeed!

Once again we’d like to thank Junya for an excellent IE, it takes a skilled examiner to put a room full of nervous candidates at ease and he managed it very well.

Shao Hua Chen (Awha)

If you have visited Savedra anytime in the last six months you probably met Awha, she has been participating in our internship program, here to help all of our Chinese speaking visitors. She is now a newly minted PADI Dive Instructor and will be providing diver training to our Chinese guests

Mathew Severance

Mat joins us from Nashville in the US, he has spent the majority of his professional diving career in the red sea working on liveaboards. Mat has good knowledge of Mandarin after spending some time living and working in China, this is going to prove useful as a Dive Instructor. Expect to see Mat in Moalboal on your next visit,

Francois Burg

Francois joins us from France, he has been working as a Divemaster in Koh Tao, the large volume of divers passing through there has given him opportunities to assist on lots of courses, the experience has clearly benefited him and gave him an easy run at the IDC and IE. Francois and his Partner Keira, also a dive instructor, look set to be familiar faces in Moalboal, we look forward to working with them.

The next Savedra IDC

Our next Instructor Development Course is confirmed to start on March 19th 2017, by which time we’ll be sporting our new CDC moniker! The EFR Instructor Course is scheduled on March 17th 2017, and the IE will be on April 1 and 2, once again the IE is in Moalboal, a fantastic advantage for candidates as there is no need to travel or incur additional expense. If you would like to enroll on our program drop me a line, I’ll be happy to go over your training options.
