Next week I’m heading over across the Tanon strait to the island of Negros, more precisely to the town of Sipalay in the province of Negros Occidental. The occasion for the trip: I’ll be the on-board photographer for one of our live-on-board trips through the Visayas.

The trip takes me first to Sipalay, to Easy Diving on the west coast of the volcanic island of Negros. There I’ll do some warm-up dives; I have not dived this place, but from all I hear, the macro is great. Mhhhhh. I love macro. I shall mount my

on my

and photograph all the small shrimps, crabs and gobies I can find!

After the stay in Sipalay the trip will take me around the southern tip of the island of Negros, to Dauin, and then to the islands of Siquijor, Balicasag, Panglao/Bohol, Sumilon, then to Oslob, and back to Moalboal in Cebu. You can see the course of the trip (“Visayan Dive Safari”, you have to activate the path in the menu on the left) on this map:

I’m excited to see all these very diverse dive sites, and I’ll update this blog with the highlights. So, you get to read what’s happening underwater and look at some pictures, too. Almost as good as being there yourself. Almost ….. But wait:

We are giving away one of our 5-dive packages for the person who can guess most accurately how many hours I will be underwater during the live-on-board trip!!!

Hint: There are up to 24 dives possible on this trip – the exact number depending on the ocean conditions. I have pretty good air consumption for a big guy, with no problem spending an hour underwater on an average dive. Of course deeper dives are shorter …. So take your guess. Post your total Klaus dive time estimate (hours:minutes) under this article on our Facebook page, and the closest guess will win the dive package. I will also update on the total dive time already dived while the trip is going on! The trip is starting on Tuesday, October 20th, so make sure you post your guess before that day.
